My Vac Saver Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026 · Ryder Publishing
What stays on your iPhone
- Your bags: names, food types, dates, where they are, notes and photos.
- Reminders are scheduled on your device. Spreadsheet exports only go where you choose to share them.
Smart features
- Fill in from photo: when you use it, that photo is sent through our server (ryderpublishing.com) to OpenAI to name the food. We don't store the photo.
- Ask and meal ideas: your question and a text list of your stored bags (name, type, where it is, how many, how long left — no photos) are sent the same way for that one answer and not stored by us.
- OpenAI processes this under its API terms and does not use it to train its models; it may keep it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring.
- To stop one phone from overusing these features, our server keeps a daily count linked to a random code made by the app. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
- If you never use a smart feature, nothing is sent.
Sharing with your household (optional)
Only if you turn on Share My Bags: your shared bags (names, food types, dates, where they are, how many, notes and a small copy of each photo) and the first name you type are stored on our server under a random share code, so the other phones that join with that code see the same list. Anyone with the code can see the list, so only give it to people in your home.
When the last phone leaves the share, the shared copy is erased. A shared list nobody has opened for a year is erased too.
Purchases
Handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Children
My Vac Saver is not directed to children under 13.
Deleting your data
Delete bags in the app, or delete the app to remove everything on your iPhone. If you share, go to Settings › Share My Bags and tap Stop Sharing on This iPhone first; when everyone has left, the shared copy is erased from our server.
